Oonchiumpa
Oonchiumpa is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation based in Alice Springs (Mparntwe), Central Australia. Led by Kristy Bloomfield and Tanya Turner, Oonchiumpa works across 7 language groups within a 150km radius of Alice Springs, partnering with 32+ organisations. Core programs include Youth Mentorship & Cultural Healing (95% reduced anti-social behavior, 72% school re-engagement), True Justice: Deep Listening on Country (with ANU since 2022), Atnarpa Homestead On-Country Experiences, and Cultural Brokerage & Service Navigation. Oonchiumpa proves that culture is medicine and that Aboriginal communities know what works for Aboriginal young people.

Atnarpa Homestead On-Country Experiences
Experience Eastern Arrernte country at Loves Creek Station through Traditional Owner-led on-country programs. Offering accommodation, cultural tourism, healing programs, and educational experiences including bush medicine workshops, storytelling, and cultural connection activities. School groups and visitors gain authentic understanding of Aboriginal culture through direct engagement with country and knowledge holders.
Cultural Brokerage & Service Navigation
Connecting Aboriginal young people and families to essential services through trusted partnerships with over 32 community organizations. Provides culturally safe navigation support for health services (Congress, Headspace), education pathways, employment and training, housing and accommodation, and legal and justice system access. Breaks down barriers between Aboriginal families and mainstream services through cultural brokerage and advocacy.
Oonchiumpa Alternative Service Response
A comprehensive mentorship program providing culturally responsive support for Aboriginal youth (ages 11-17) identified as at-risk by Operation Luna, the Northern Territory Government multi-agency taskforce. Using a cultural brokerage model, Oonchiumpa connects young people to Aboriginal and mainstream services while providing holistic family support, education re-engagement, mental health services, housing assistance, and cultural connection programs.
True Justice: Deep Listening on Country
Transformative legal education program where law students learn from Traditional Owners on country, understanding Aboriginal law, justice, and lived experiences beyond what textbooks can teach. A week-long immersive experience traveling from Alice Springs through Arrernte Country to Uluru, designed and led by Traditional Owners Kristy Bloomfield and Tanya Turner in partnership with ANU Law School since 2022.
